QR Codes for Photographers: One Printed Code, Every Client Gallery
You hand a client a print box or a thank-you card with a QR code that points to their gallery. Six months later, that link is dead — the gallery platform restructured its URLs, you migrated from one host to another, or the gallery expired and you re-uploaded it. The card is still on their fridge, and the code on it now leads nowhere. Static QR codes bake the URL into the printed image, so every link change means a reprint.
ScanTrail works differently. Each dynamic QR code encodes a permanent short link, and you decide where that link goes — and can change it any time after printing. Put the code on delivery cards, album inserts, USB boxes, or the back of prints. When a gallery moves, you edit the destination in your dashboard and every card you've ever printed keeps working. Redirects are served from Cloudflare's edge network, and clients scan with their phone's camera — no app.
You also get scan analytics per code: scans per day, a time-of-day histogram, country, and device. So you can see whether the couple's parents ever opened the wedding gallery, and whether printing scan cards is actually worth it for your studio.

Repoint a printed card when the gallery moves
The code on the card encodes ScanTrail's permanent short link, not the gallery URL. Switch gallery platforms, re-upload an expired gallery, or fix a typo in the link — edit the destination once in your dashboard and the printed code follows. No reprints, no apologetic emails with a new link.
See when clients actually open their gallery
Every dynamic code tracks scans per day, time of day, country, and device. Deliver cards on Friday and watch the weekend scans come in — or notice a gallery that's never been opened and follow up. The free plan shows the last 7 days; Pro keeps full history and adds CSV export.
Print-ready files that match your cards
Download codes as SVG for crisp printing at any size — business card or album box — or PNG for everything else. On Pro you can set custom QR colors so the code fits your card design instead of fighting it.
One code per client without the cost stacking up
Make a dedicated code for each client so their card points to their gallery forever. The free plan includes 3 dynamic codes; Pro is $1/month or $10/year for up to 1,000 — enough for years of client work.

- When the gallery link changes — new platform, re-upload, expired link — edit the destination in your dashboard. Every printed code keeps working.
Common questions
What happens to my printed codes if I stop paying for Pro?
You drop to the free plan, which keeps 3 dynamic codes active and redirecting — codes within that limit don't go dark on your clients. Analytics on the free plan are limited to the last 7 days, and Pro features like custom colors and CSV export go away.
How much does it cost?
The free plan includes unlimited static QR downloads (no account needed), 3 dynamic codes, and 7 days of analytics. Pro is $1/month or $10/year and includes 1,000 dynamic codes, full analytics history, custom QR colors, and CSV export. The WiFi and vCard generators at /tools/ are free too and run entirely in your browser — the vCard one is handy for your own business card.
Do my clients need an app to scan the code?
No. Any modern phone camera scans it natively. The redirect is served from Cloudflare's edge network, so the gallery opens quickly wherever your client is.
Should I make one code per client or reuse a single code?
One per client, if you want each card to keep pointing at that client's gallery indefinitely — a dynamic code redirects to one URL at a time. The free plan covers 3 active codes; Pro covers 1,000. A single reused code only makes sense for something like a portfolio link that's the same for everyone.
Will my codes break if I switch gallery platforms?
No — that's the main reason photographers use dynamic codes. The printed code points to a permanent ScanTrail short link. When you migrate platforms, update each code's destination to the new gallery URL and every card already in clients' hands keeps working.
