QR Codes for Contractors: Print Once, Repoint Anytime
The QR code on your truck door points wherever it pointed the day the wrap went on. If that was a quote form on a website you've since rebuilt, or a review link that changed when you updated your business listing, every scan now hits a dead page — and the only fix is paying the wrap shop again. Same problem with the box of door hangers in your garage and the yard signs sitting in client lawns across town.
A ScanTrail QR code works differently. The printed code encodes a permanent short link, and you decide where that link goes: today it's your quote form, in November it's your snow removal page, next year it's whatever replaces your current booking setup. Changing the destination takes a few seconds in the dashboard. Nothing you've printed ever needs to change.
You also get numbers. Each code tracks scans per day, time of day, and device, so if you put one code on the truck and a different code on each batch of door hangers, you can see which drop actually produced scans before you pay to print the next thousand.

Change your truck decal's destination without touching the truck
Your printed code points to a permanent ScanTrail short link, and you control where that link forwards. Switch from a website contact form to booking software, update a review link, retire an old domain — edit the destination in the dashboard and every decal, sign, and door hanger you've ever printed updates at once.
Compare door-hanger drops by the numbers
Put a different code on each batch of door hangers or each set of yard signs. Every code gets its own scan counts, time-of-day histogram, and device breakdown, so you can tell which drop earned its printing cost and which didn't. On Pro, export it all to CSV to keep records per campaign.
Files your print shop can actually use
Download codes as SVG, which scales cleanly from a business card to a full truck wrap without going blurry, or PNG for quick jobs. Pro adds custom QR colors so the code can match your company branding instead of sitting there as a black-and-white square.
Priced for a one-truck operation
The free plan includes 3 dynamic codes — one for the truck, one for signs, one for door hangers — plus unlimited static codes with no account required. Pro is $1/month or $10/year for 1,000 dynamic codes and full analytics history. That's less than one yard sign costs.
How to set it up
- Sign up free at forever-scan.com. The free plan includes 3 dynamic codes — enough for a truck code, a yard-sign code, and a door-hanger code.
- Create a dynamic QR code and point it at your quote form, review page, or portfolio.
- Download the code as SVG for large-format printing like wraps and yard signs, or PNG for door hangers and cards.
- Send the file to your print shop and put the code on everything you hand out or park in a driveway.
- When a link changes, edit the destination in your dashboard. Every printed code follows the new destination immediately, because they all point through your permanent short link.
Common questions
What happens to my printed codes if I stop paying?
You drop to the free plan, which keeps 3 dynamic codes redirecting — so the code on your truck keeps working even if you never pay again. Analytics scale back to the last 7 days instead of full history, and you lose Pro extras like CSV export and custom colors. The printed codes themselves never break.
How much does it cost?
Static QR codes are free and unlimited, no account needed. A free account adds 3 dynamic (editable) codes with 7 days of analytics. Pro is $1/month or $10/year and includes 1,000 dynamic codes, full analytics history, custom QR colors, and CSV export.
Can I see which neighborhoods are scanning my signs?
Not from a single code — location data is country-level, not street-level. The way to do it: create a separate code for each neighborhood drop or each set of signs. Each code reports its own scans per day, time-of-day pattern, and devices, so comparing neighborhoods is just comparing codes. Pro's 1,000-code limit lets you go as granular as one code per subdivision.
Do my customers need an app to scan the code?
No. The built-in camera on any modern phone scans QR codes. ScanTrail redirects are served from Cloudflare's edge network, so the redirect itself adds almost no delay between the scan and your page loading.
What's the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static code has the URL baked into the pattern — it's free and works forever, but the destination can never change. A dynamic code points to a permanent short link you can repoint whenever you want. For anything expensive to reprint — a truck wrap, metal signs, a box of 1,000 door hangers — use dynamic. For a one-off flyer where the link will never change, static is fine.
